For grown-ups
What is Block Island Live?
A calm, round-the-clock stream on the ABC Block Buddies YouTube channel. Each day one Letter Buddy hosts the island with three friends, following the same gentle routine: sunrise, Good Morning Island, play time, the Daily Show, nap music, tidy-up and bath time, and a sleepy island all night.
This website is for you, the grown-up. Your little one never needs to use it alone.
How to play along
- Open Play along on your phone.
- Read the question out loud and show the pictures. Your little one points; you tap. One tap answers, there is nothing to type.
- The first time each visit, we ask you a simple sum. It keeps answers in grown-up hands.
- Watch the stream together. The Letter Buddies share what everyone picked, in words like "some friends" or "so many friends", never numbers. If nobody answers, the buddies choose for themselves.
The questions (New York times)
- Today's Pick: opens at 6:30 PM the evening before and closes at 9:00 AM. The winning version plays in every Daily Show.
- Bedtime Dream: 6:30 PM to 10:15 PM. The top dreams float above the sleeping buddies all night.
- Island Weather: 6:00 AM to 9:55 AM. Look out the window together. Adding your US state is optional; we never ask for anything more precise.
- Jukebox: pick one of four songs; each round closes at 55 minutes past the hour and the winner plays at the start of the next Play Island hour.
- Proud Moments and Buddy Mailbox (when available): tell the buddies about a little win, or what your little one loves right now. The buddies celebrate at Tidy-up time and open the mailbox at 4:00 PM.

A note about screen time
Many pediatric guidelines suggest little or no screen time before age 2 (video calls aside), and for ages 2 to 5 about an hour a day of quality programs, ideally watched together. Block Island Live is built to fit that: short, slow segments, no cliffhangers, no "keep watching" prompts, and calm music at night.
Good ways to use it: sing along to a song, do the morning stretch together, then turn it off. Sleepy Island works best as background music with the screen out of sight. Stopping is always the right choice.
